Janetta Jones was charged with four counts of child endangering

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Warren woman is in the Trumbull County Jail,  charged with child endangering after police said she left her four young children home alone.

A friend of 21-year-old Janetta Jones told police that Jones asked her if she could stop and check on her kids at her apartment. When she went there, she found four children — ages 2 to 5 — alone, according to a police report.

The woman told police that the 5 year old told her they were hungry, so she took them to McDonald’s to get something to eat.

Police said the apartment was dirty, with soiled diapers on the floor. Officers said it appeared as if one of the kids tried to cook noodles on the stove.

Children Services was contacted. Police said it wasn’t the first report that the agency has received on the family.

Jones denied leaving the children at home alone, saying a friend was watching them. She was arrested and charged with four counts of child endangering.

Police said the children’s grandmother took custody of the kids.

Jones appeared in Warren Municipal Court on Monday, where she pleaded not guilty to the charges. She is scheduled to appear in court again November 15.
