YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A gun was found underneath a sleeping baby during a search of a Youngstown apartment Sunday night.

Officers were called to the apartment complex on Kendis Circle for reports that a man was outside with a gun, threatening people.

A woman living in the apartment complex said 22-year-old Jamal Moody pointed a shotgun at her and yelled at her to come outside. She said Moody was upset because he wanted music that she was playing turned off.

When officers arrived, the woman said Moody was inside one of the apartments. Looking through an apartment window, an officer reported seeing Moody hide the gun under a mattress.

Moody was arrested while police searched the apartment. Police said the loaded handgun was found underneath a mattress that a three-month-old baby was sleeping on. A loaded shotgun was found under another mattress, according to a police report.

Police said a 5-year-old child was also in the apartment at the time.

Moody, who police said has a prior felony conviction for drug trafficking, was charged with aggravated menacing, weapons under disability, receiving stolen property and child endangering.
