Struthers sloppy against Woodridge, loses 18-6

The Wildcats tossed a costly early interception and suffered a safety

PENINSULA, Ohio (WYTV) – In a Division IV, Region 13 matchup, five-seed Struthers fell to four-seed Woodridge, 18-6, hurt by a couple miscues.

After the Wildcats threw an interception in the first quarter, Mason Lydic passed to Sharif Howard for a 6-0 Woodridge lead (Struthers blocked the PAT attempt). Then, after a Woodridge field goal, the Wildcats suffered a safety when they snapped the ball over the punters head and out of the end zone to trail 11-0 at halftime.

Struthers got on the board in the third quarter with a 28-yard TD run by quarterback AJ Musolino to cut its deficit to 11-6 (the 2-point conversion failed).

But Woodridge’s Lydic notched a 50-yard TD pass on third-and-long midway through the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.
