Truck accident shuts down large section of Interstate 76

The portion of the road closed Tuesday afternoon due to downed power lines

Interstate 76 is closed at State Route 534 westbound and State Route 225 eastbound due to down power lines.

PORTAGE CO., Ohio (WYTV) – Interstate 76 eastbound at State Route 225 and I-76 westbound at State Route 534 is now open.

The portion of the road closed Tuesday afternoon due to downed power lines.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Portage County, a truck struck a high tension power line and is now lying across the Interstate near Milton Township.

Ohio Edison was called to help fix the power lines.

Beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, I-76 between SR 225 and SR 534 will have various lane restrictions for utility repairs through 11 p.m.
