YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Kids at two Youngstown elementary schools got some new supplies and winter coats, all thanks to employees and patients at the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center.
Volunteers delivered the gear Tuesday morning to Harding and Williamson elementary schools. They say the center gets so much support from the community, and they wanted to give back as well.
“We have kids that run up to us with 13 cents to help women get mammograms for free, biopsies for free, ultrasounds. Like I said, there’s no way we can pay that back, but this is just something small,” said Julie Paine, of the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center.
The coats and supplies came from employees and survivors of breast and ovarian cancer who take part in the Joanie’s Sisters program.
