WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A car that crashed into a pole caused a widespread power outage in the city of Warren Thursday evening.
The driver of an SUV crashed into a pole in the 2000 block of Clermont Avenue just after 4 p.m.
A transformer blew and caused a fire, according to dispatch.
The driver then drove into a home, damaging one corner of the house. The gaping hole in the house has since been boarded up.
According to First Energy, around 2,200 people were without power when the accident happened. About 400 customers were still without power as of 8:30 p.m.
A crew is on the scene and power is expected to be restored by 4:30 a.m. Friday.
