YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Mahoning County Jail inmate will spend an additional 11 years in prison for trying to strangle a Sheriff’s deputy in July.

Lucky Mitchell was sentenced in court Wednesday on an attempted murder charge. He was also ordered to pay court costs.

Last week, Mitchell changed his plea from not guilty by reason of insanity to guilty of the charge.

Surveillance video showed Mitchell grab the deputy watching over his pod and try to choke him with a t-shirt. After a brief struggle, other inmates came to help the deputy and held Mitchell down.
