WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Two of the most storied playoff programs in the State will collide this weekend when Warren JFK and St. Paul meet up in the Division VII Regional Championship.

Those two schools each have a state title on their resume and a combined 67 playoff wins in school history.

Kennedy has been one of the best defensive teams in the state this season.  The Eagles have shutout six teams this year, and allowed just 3 points in the playoffs..

To put it another way, Norwalk St. Paul scored 80 points through the first two rounds of the playoffs.  The Eagles have allowed just 72 points all season. Now St. Paul hasn’t lost a game all season… and they’ve shutout five teams themselves.

“Ya know, you can’t be afraid of these moments. these are the moments that you’ve dreamed about out in the backyard by yourself…shooting hoops or hitting a baseball or whatever you were doing,” Head Coach Jeff Bayuk said. “You can’t be shy about those moments because those are the ones that you’ve been hoping for and planning for your whole life. So, if you take that attitude into a game like this, then you’re not afraid of the moment because you realize that this is what you’ve been working toward your whole life.”

“It’s a big confidence booster, but we believe that the teams get better from here on out, and every week it’s gonna get harder every week,” Senior Ryan Lee said. Both have extreme tradition and we’re just gonna try to be the better team and try to come out on top.”

Warren JFK and St. Paul will kickoff Saturday night at 7PM at Strongsville High School.
