Cortland, OH (WYTV) – Jensen Silbaugh has a knack for competing, and doing so at a high level. The Lakeview senior is an All Conference and All District player in both basketball and volleyball. Plus, she works just as hard in the classroom, making Jensen an easy choice for our Student Athlete of the Week.
“Student-athlete to me is studying comes first,” said Silbaugh. “Your school work definitely comes first, but even after a late night you just gotta pull through and study for that test and get that A.”
Jensen gives one hundred percent in whatever she does, she’s a 3 year starter in both basketball and volleyball.
“I take pride in being the team player and I’d rather have the assist than the points.”
Jensen has played a huge part in the Bulldogs’ success. She’s won a Conference Championship in every season of her high school career thus far, including a District Championship last season.
“I’m hoping to get that feeling again. That was a great feeling but it’s going to be a lot more work than last year. We have to shoot more, we just have to get all of our skills A-1.”
Speaking of A’s, Jensen has racked up plenty of those. She ranks 20th in her class with a 3.9 GPA and just last week, signed to play volleyball for the California University of Pennsylvania.
“It is a dream come true…with all my hard work, I was hoping something was going to come from it and it did it. I’m really honored like it’s all paying off and to be “33 Student Athlete of the Week”, it was high up on my list and I’m happy it happened.”
