YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – With the cold weather we’re now facing, it’s important to bundle up and seek shelter. That’s why local shelters have been preparing to bring people in from the cold.

Over the last 24 hours, homeless shelters like the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley have seen a significant increase in people coming through the doors.

Officials said just as the cold really began to set in, the facility had almost reached capacity. Their 56 beds are full, but they still won’t turn anyone away.

To those who walk through the doors, every little bit helps.

The Rescue Mission — located at 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. — is also seeking more volunteers and donations to help get them through these cold winter months.
