Board Games Paul Rohrbaugh

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Not only is Paul Rohrbaugh a professor at Youngstown State University, he also has a passion for making historical board games.

Saturday at Kravitz Deli, he spoke to the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society, talking about how he made his career in the Mahoning Valley.

Rohrbaugh explained how he uses board games to teach history to his students, which helps keep players interested in a world of fast-moving technology.

“What many students find rewarding and fun about the board games is indeed the social interaction,” Rohrbaugh said. “Where they cannot just learn about the content and themselves, but each other as well.”

Among other topics, Rohrbaugh has made several games about military history.

But he has a lot more on the way.

New games in the works are based on education, surviving in the auto industry, Youngstown Steel Industry, president McKinley and more.
