AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Officers arrested four people for OVI during checkpoints in Austintown over the weekend.
In addition to the arrests, police issued two summonses for driving under suspension and one summons for no operator’s license.
The Mahoning County OVI Task Force said a total of 802 vehicles passed through the two checkpoints on N. Canfield-Niles Road and Mahoning Avenue.
They diverted 17 of those vehicles for further investigation.
Officers on saturation patrols conducted 15 traffic stops.
A total of 11 traffic citations were issued:
- 2 citations for adult restraint
- 2 citations for left of center
- 2 citations for expired license plates
- 2 citations for speed
- 1 citation for stop sign
- 1 citation for two headlights required
- 1 citation for two plates required
The Mahoning County OVI Task Force is funded by a federal grant, which is administered through the Ohio Department of Public Safety. The Task Force says it will continue to conduct coordinated saturation patrol blitzes, corridor enforcement blitzes and sobriety checkpoints.
