Police: Warren business owner stabbed while trying to stop thief

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Warren business owner was stabbed Friday afternoon after someone robbed him of cash from the register, police said.

The owner of ACD Communication on Youngstown Road said that a white man came into the business through a back door around 2:15 p.m. At the time, the owner was in a nearby room.

When the owner came back out, he told police he saw the man behind the counter near the register. Police said the owner had just taken cash out of the register and set it on the counter.

The man took the cash and ran for the back door, according to a police report.

Officers said that when the owner ran after and grabbed him, the man stabbed him a few times and continued running toward Adelaide Avenue.

Medical staff came to examine the owner’s injuries, but they were not serious.
