Police: Warren man tried to hide cocaine from officers in his sock

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police charged a Warren man after they said he hid a baggie of cocaine in his socks and later tried to eat it to keep it from officers.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on Parkman Road around 1 a.m. Tuesday and learned the driver, 44-year-old Antonio Mallory, was driving under suspension and had a capias for his arrest.

Mallory told officers he had been arrested in Weathersfield in the past for cocaine possession, according to a police report.

Officers said they asked him numerous times if he currently had any illegal substances, but Mallory said he didn’t.

They took him to the sheriff’s office, where corrections officers asked him to take off his shoes and socks.

According to the police report, Mallory tried to hide his socks. Officers asked him again to remove them.

Police said Mallory pulled a baggie containing what they believe to be cocaine out of one of his socks, and then placed it in his mouth.

Corrections officers were able to get the baggie, but said Mallory became upset and claimed he was an addict.

Police charged him with possession of cocaine, tampering with evidence and conveyance of prohibited items to a detention facility.

They sent the suspected cocaine to a lab for testing.
