Sharon man convicted of rape, kidnapping

Glavin Justan Ivy is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 4, 2017

MERCER, Pa. (WYTV) – A Sharon man was found guilty of sexually assaulting a female victim in 2014.

Glavin Justan Ivy was convicted of rape, aggravated assault, kidnapping, unlawful restraint and simple assault following a four-day trial, according to the Mercer County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors say Ivy was arrested two days after the sexual assault when the victim came to the police station to report it. Police found evidence that the victim was confirmed for some time in Ivy’s bedroom, where prosecutors say Ivy first choked the girl and then raped her.

Ivy faces 10 to 20 year sentences on each count of rape, aggravated assault and kidnapping. He will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

“The conviction of Ivy was the result of excellent police work by the Sharon Police Department and the hard work and dedication of the Assistant District Attorneys prosecuting this case,” said Mercer County District Attorney Miles Karson.

Ivy is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 4, 2017.
