Police: Suspect driving stolen car crashes on Glenwood Avenue

Police say the suspect was driving a car stolen from the Boardman area

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – A 16-year-old is in the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center after a chase for a stolen vehicle ended in a crash.

He was arrested at the corner of Glenwood Avenue and Kiwatha Road following the police pursuit.

Police said the teenager was driving a Toyota Camry stolen from the Boardman area. Officers began chasing the car, which eventually crashed into another vehicle that then hit a utility pole, pulling power lines down.

The woman driving the other car was taken to the hospital with injuries.

“We observed the driver and the passenger fleeing from the vehicle. We were able to give chase, and with the help of the neighbors here and some passing motorists, we were able to apprehend the driver,” Boardman Police Detective Glenn Patton said.

The passenger in the stolen car got away and is wanted for arrest.

The two cars had extensive damage.

Ohio Edison was at the scene to repair the lines and Glenwood Avenue was blocked for a short time while the scene was cleared.
