GIRARD, Ohio (WYTV) – Saturday in Girard, the high school robotics team helped its community prepare for winter.
Locals could get their lawn mowers winterized and ready for spring, oil was changed, blades were sharpened and balanced and all mowers were left with a full tank of gas with fuel stabilizer.
Girard robotics team coach Ashraf Hadi said that while this helps community members, the students learn skills that they can carry throughout the rest of their lives.
“It’s a hands-on experience,” Hadi said. “It’s something that, kids, once they get up out of high school, and even now, they can winterize their own lawn mowers. You know, it’s a skill they can use down the road.”
Any money raised went to the Girard robotics team, helping to pay for parts, travel and competition expenses.
