Police: Couple stabbed New Castle woman, tried to kill her

Shawn Pounds and his girlfriend, Patricia Yhelka, are charged with conspiracy to commit homicide

MAHONING TWP., Pa. (WYTV) – A couple is facing several felony charges after police said they lured a 32-year-old woman to Mahoning Township and stabbed her in the head and neck several times on Sunday afternoon.

The victim, who is from New Castle, is undergoing surgery at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, where she was taken for her injuries.

Pennsylvania State Police said the victim was in a car with 26-year-old Shawn Pounds and his girlfriend, 34-year-old Patricia Yhelka, when she was stabbed. Police said Pounds had planned to rob and killed the woman.

Pounds is charged with attempted homicide, criminal conspiracy to commit homicide, aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit robbery and simple assault.

Yhelka is charged with criminal conspiracy to commit homicide and criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.

They were taken to Lawrence County Jail.

Yhelka is being held on a $75,000 bond, and Pounds has a $100,000 bond.
