WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Employees at St. Joseph Warren Hospital want kids in Warren to have more to read.
That’s why Wednesday, they dropped off $5,000 worth of books to Jefferson PK-8 School in Warren.
In the past, St. Joseph would donate backpacks, but the need for them has gone down in recent years. So, workers wanted to find another way to help.
The library even had some requests on the type of books donated. Librarian Christina Kittle said she wanted them to be diverse.
“By having diverse books, a lot of these stories students are going to be able to relate to the characters, and it’s really going to get them excited about reading,” Kittle said.
Some of the students already had a chance to take a look at some of the books. They will hit the shelves soon for students to read.
