MINERAL RIDGE, Ohio (WYTV) – Four generations of Parillas are celebrating a milestone as their Trumbull County Christmas tree business turns 25.
Twelve years ago, Chuck’s Dogwood Nursery placed a blue spruce tree in front of Salem Area Chamber of Commerce building. Owner Bob Parilla says they were approached by the Chamber about planting the tree so that the city would have a permanent one, instead of having to put one up each year.
“When we started out, it was only eight foot tall… and now, it’s stretching 24 feet. It’s as perfect as a blue spruce that you can get,” he said.
The trees sold at the Mineral Ridge business are grown in Hanoverton, so as Chuck says, they’re all “imported from Ohio.”
