Man pleads guilty to fatal Youngstown shooting

Deondre Gayles is scheduled to be sentenced on January 11

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A man pleaded guilty to several charges related to the shooting death of 20-year-old Ralph Thomas.

Prosecutors say Deondre Gayles shot Thomas while he was driving near the Brier Hill Annex apartments in July. Thomas was then taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Tuesday, Gayles pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter with a firearm specification, two counts of felonious assault, one count tampering with evidence and one count having weapons under disability.

He is scheduled to be sentenced at 10:30 a.m. January 11.
