BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – State and local police raided three video gaming parlors in Boardman for reported illegal activity on Wednesday.
Boardman Police were joined by agents from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification for the raids.
The raids started around 10 a.m. at Lucky’s Internet Cafe, Play Skilz Arcade and Players.
Investigators said it’s the result of an undercover operation over several months.
“We started to get some complaints and information months ago that they were operating outside of state law, so through the preceding months, we’ve had officers and agents come in and play,” said Boardman Police Chief Jack Nichols.
The chief says those undercover visits gave police proof that illegal activity was going on. Several machines were seized, along with records and other items.
Nichols said the investigation could take some time.
“Obviously, there’s a lot of material that have to be seized and inventoried and gone through. A lot of paperwork and subpoena work will be done following this, so it could be some weeks, at the very least, until you see any charges filed in regard to this,” he said.
