Canfield man arrested on 52 child pornography charges

Paul Clymer, 68, faces 52 felony charges

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Canfield man facing 52 charges related to child pornography has been arrested by U.S. Marshals.

Paul Clymer, 68, was indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury on Thursday. He’s charged with 27 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and 25 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor.

Prosecutors say Clymer was sharing image and video files of child pornography, and they believe the youngest victim was 2 years old.

Assistant Mahoning County Prosecutor Jennifer McLaughlin said if Clymer hadn’t been sharing the files, he may have never been caught.

“In these cases… they get caught because they’re sharing on the internet. It comes to the attorney or law enforcement and then they initiate an investigation,” she said.

Clymer should appear in court to answer his charges later this month.
