OVI checkpoint, scheduled Friday night, canceled due to weather

The OVI Task Force said alcohol-related fatal and injury crashes have reduced since OVI checkpoints began. At the same time, funding is dwindling.

CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – The OVI checkpoint scheduled Friday, Dec. 9 has been canceled due to severe weather in the forecast.

The Mahoning County OVI Task Force made the announcement on Friday morning.

“The potential for severe weather creates a safety concern for both the officers working the detail and the motorists traveling the roadways,” the Task Force said.

The checkpoint will be rescheduled at a later date.
