Man indicted, charged with Warren murder of girlfriend

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A man is facing murder charges in connection with a Warren shooting that killed a young mother last month.

Shaun Simpson was indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury on murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence charges.

He is charged with murdering his girlfriend, 22-year-old Becky Pyne, on November 12.

According to police, the shooting happened outside of a home on South Leavitt Street.

Police said Simpson then dropped Pyne off at Trumbull Memorial Hospital and sped away. She later died in the hospital.

Detectives said Simpson had previously claimed that another person shot Pyne and that he had been dropping their child off after he took her to the hospital.

Simpson is scheduled to appear in court Friday on the charges.
