Woman dies after crash in Bazetta Township

Two vehicles were involved in the crash on Johnson Plank Road near North Park Avenue around 8 a.m.

Two vehicles crashed in Bazetta Monday morning on Johnson Plank Road.


BAZETTA TWP., Ohio (WYTV) – A woman has died after a crash in Bazetta Township on Monday morning.

Highway Patrol said a 1998 Buick Regal and 2001 Chevrolet Venture van collided on Johnson Plank Road around 8 a.m.

The driver of the Regal, 18-year-old Mark Donaldson, was traveling eastbound when he went left of center, striking the van head-on, according to investigators.

The driver of the van was identified 59-year-old Marye Urey, of Warren. A passenger, 25-year-old Melissa Urey, was also in the car.

Marye was trapped in the vehicle and had to be cut out by the fire department. She was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital with critical injuries, and she later died.

Highway Patrol said Marye Urey wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

Donaldson and Melissa Urey were wearing seatbelts. They were taken to the hospital, but investigators said their injuries weren’t life-threatening.

The crash is under investigation.
