Woman charged with weekend stabbing in Youngstown

The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries

A man is in the hospital after police say he was stabbed by a woman early Sunday morning.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A woman is in the Mahoning County Jail, charged with a stabbing that police said was drug-related.

Latonia Lake, 41, is charged with felonious assault.

Police said around 3:55 a.m. Sunday, she stabbed 59-year-old Steve Croom. The two were walking near the intersection of W. Evergreen and Oak Hill avenues in Youngstown prior to the stabbing.

According to the Youngstown Police Department, the two were friends and had been arguing over drug usage.

Croom was taken to the hospital with two stab wounds. The injuries weren’t life-threatening.

A police report noted that a pipe and cocaine was found, but no drug charges were filed.
