Troopers say deadly Trumbull Co. crash that split car was intentional

It happened at the intersection of Bradley Brownlee and Warner roads in Johnston Township

JOHNSTON TWP., Ohio (WYTV) – Investigators with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said a deadly one-vehicle crash in Johnston Township was intentional.

Tristan T. Thompson, 19, of Kinsman, died after his 2006 Chevy Impala crashed into a tree at high speed and split in half, according to Highway Patrol. A report said Thompson’s car also hit a utility pole and flipped over, throwing him from the vehicle.

The car ended up on the side of the road in a field.

It happened at the intersection of Bradley Brownlee and Warner roads just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Troopers said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

The road will be shut down until the utility pole can be fixed.

Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the crash.
