WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A suspect is behind bars following a fatal stabbing in Warren Saturday night.

Arteum Brodeur, 24, is in Trumbull County Jail charged with murder in connection with a fatal stabbing at North Park Avenue and Washington Street.

Police say it happened around 9:20 p.m. and started as a fight.

The victim was found in the parking lot of 438 North Park. He was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where he later died. Police haven’t identified his name yet because they need to notify the family.

A witness says the fight started right in the parking lot.

“I thought they were horsing around, you know,” a witness said. “They were throwing some punches and stuff.”

“Then he put the guy to the ground. He had his hands on his throat and he kept saying, ‘I give up, I give up,’” the witness added. “And then I guess when he got stabbed he said to call 911.”

People who live nearby say the incident hits too close to home.

“Of course it’s scary,” resident John Davenport said. “You never know who’s standing next to you. Or you never know — you just never know who’s gonna be there the next day.”
