Warren police name 3 victims of shooting inside car that crashed into house

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police have identified the three people killed in a shooting and car into a house crash in Warren Thursday evening.

Brandy Joseph, 37, Devonte West, 24, and Ju’wantae Harbin, 18, have died.

Police said Joseph and one of the men were pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, where he died on Friday.

Warren Police Chief Eric Merkel said the older-model Cadillac lost control after someone fired shots inside the car.

The car hit a stop sign and took out some shrubs before plowing into the home at Southern Boulevard and Solar Street.

According to a 911 call, the shooting may have happened after the car crashed.

Excerpt from 911 call:

Caller: “All I heard was a big boom. I heard a big crash and we jumped off the couch. We seen the car go through the house – big boom. We have power lines down…my boyfriend ran over and two neighbors ran over, and then they ran when they heard gunshots… my boyfriend said they had guns and they were shooting at each other.”

Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 7 p.m. but the investigation was still very active into early Friday morning. Police finally left around 1 a.m.

The intersection was taped off and blocked while police investigated the scene and worked to get the bodies out of the car.

Police are still investigating.

33 WYTV News crews on the scene said, at one point, there were about 200 people standing around.
