Storms close roads, knock out power all over Valley Friday and Saturday

Thousands were without power on Friday, some still without power on Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Severe storms in the area knocked out power to hundreds of First Energy customers due to Friday’s weather. Saturday, people are still experiencing outages.

As of 1:45 p.m. Saturday, there are 400 outages in Trumbull County, 33 in Mahoning and 10 in Columbiana. Check First Energy’s website for the various times power should be restored in Ohio.

In Pennsylvania, there are 64 outages in Lawrence County and 28 in Mercer. First Energy also has a list for Pennsylvania’s county outages and when they are expected to be fixed.

Thousands were without power on Friday. The storms also caused a few roads to close.

Liberty Street in Girard closed Friday due to downed power lines.

In Liberty, a section of Tibbitts Wick Road was closed after a branch fell on a power line.

In Austintown, the curb and one lane were closed on Mahoning Avenue at Raccoon Road. Police said a pole was about to fall down.

Also in Austintown, on North Navarre, a tree branch created a problem, causing the road to be closed for a while.

Crews were sent out to assess the damage.
