Boil alert lifted for Youngstown, Austintown customers

Drinking water samples tested Monday show that the water is now safe to drink

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A boil alert affecting Youngstown’s west side and Austintown’s east side has been lifted.

Friday, the Youngstown Water Department experienced water depressurization due to an electrical power failure.

The power has since been restored, and drinking water samples have been found not to be contaminated. therefore, the water is now safe to drink without boiling it.

Those who were affected live within the boundaries east of Raccoon Road, north of New Road, west of Belle Vista Avenue and south of County Line Road.
