1 dead, 1 injured in Warren shooting

One of the victims, 28-year-old Scott Rockenfelder, has died

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police in Warren are investigating after two people were shot early Tuesday.

One of the victims, 28-year-old Scott Rockenfelder, has died, according to investigators.

The shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. on Main Avenue S.W., near the Sterling McCullough Funeral Home.

Rockenfelder was shot, while a woman who made the 911 call was also shot in the back. Both were taken to the hospital and the woman is expected to survive.

Warren Police Capt. Robert Massucci says there was an altercation elsewhere, but when the victims ended up by the intersection of Main Ave. and 2nd St., they were surrounded and shot.

Those who live nearby said they didn’t hear the shooting but woke up to a lot of police activity.

It’s the city’s 13th murder of the year.

“No one needs to be getting shot. It’s troubling,” said Dennis Wade, who lives nearby Tuesday’s shooting. “Something needs to be done. I know that much.”

Detectives continue following up on leads in the case.
